Dave Galanin is a Tlingit Silver Carver from Southeast Alaska. He comes from a family of carvers and apprenticed with the late master silver carver, Louis Minard. Dave has a natural affinity for the art and creates pieces of jewelry as well as large sculpture pieces for commissions. His art work currently combines both the traditional and contemporary design, creating his own style using copper, silver, and gold. He has also carved in stone, such as jade, and in ivory and bone through an artist cultural exchange with Stacy Gordine. Dave is the sole proprietor of "Galanin Silverworks".

In addition to carving, Dave has a passion for playing acoustic blues and uses the stage name "Strummin Dog." He began playing out publicly in New Zealand where he opened for Paul Ubana Jones and ‘lil Ian Goodsman. He has also opened for Guy Davis as well as for Jake La Botz with Lee Asnin in a concert sponsored by HomeSkillet Records. He recorded a song with Hanni El Khatib in a video posted on YouTube. He plays annually at HomeSkillet Festival where he opened for Steve Arvey of Florida and Cadillac Jeff Aker of Spokane, Washington. "Strummin Dog" performs regularly with harmonica player Gary Gouker at local venues in Sitka, Alaska and has recorded with Gouker as well as with bluesman Lee Asnin.
